You're Always in Control
Cicero is designed with a fundamental principle: AI assists, but you decide. Every change Cicero Intern makes to your document requires your approval before it becomes permanent.
The Blue Highlight System
When Cicero Intern modifies your document, changes appear with a distinctive blue underline. This visual marker makes it immediately clear:
- What text was added
- Where modifications were made
- Which sections are pending review
The AI Review Bar
When AI changes are pending, a review bar appears at the bottom of your screen with two options:
- Accept (green checkmark) - Keep the AI's changes
- Reject (red X) - Remove the AI's changes and restore original text
This bar stays visible until you've addressed all pending changes.
Accepting Changes
When you click Accept:
- The blue highlight is removed
- The text becomes permanent in your document
- The review bar disappears (if no more pending changes)
- The change is saved to your document history
Rejecting Changes
When you click Reject:
- The AI-inserted text is removed entirely
- Your original text is restored (if it was a replacement)
- The document returns to its previous state
- You can ask for a different approach
Reviewing Multiple Changes
If Cicero Intern made multiple changes:
- Each change is highlighted independently
- You can accept or reject all at once from the review bar
- Alternatively, select specific text to review individual changes
The Review Workflow
Step 1: Request Changes
Ask Cicero Intern to edit your document:
"Make this section more concise"
Step 2: Review the Highlights
Look for blue-underlined text showing what was changed.
Step 3: Evaluate the Changes
Read through the modifications. Consider:
- Does it preserve your intended meaning?
- Is the tone appropriate?
- Are any important details lost?
Step 4: Decide
- Click Accept if the changes improve your document
- Click Reject if you prefer your original version
- Ask for adjustments if you want something different
Partial Acceptance
If you like some changes but not others:
- Accept the overall changes
- Manually edit the parts you don't like
- Or reject and ask for specific adjustments
"That's good, but keep the original opening sentence"
Iterating on Changes
You're not limited to one attempt. After rejecting:
"Try again, but keep the formal tone"
"Make it shorter but include the key statistics"
"Rewrite this focusing on the benefits, not the features"
Why Review Matters
The review system ensures:
Quality control - You verify accuracy and appropriateness
Authorship - You maintain ownership of your content
Learning - You understand what changes were made
Flexibility - You can adjust AI behavior through feedback
Best Practices
Review before accepting: Even if changes look good at first glance, read through them carefully.
Consider context: Make sure changes fit the surrounding content and overall document tone.
Don't hesitate to reject: The AI learns from your feedback. Rejecting unsuitable suggestions helps improve future results.
Use iteration: If a change is close but not perfect, provide specific feedback rather than starting over.
Track Changes Integration
The AI review system works alongside traditional document features:
- All accepted changes appear in version history
- You can compare versions to see what AI modified
- Previous versions remain accessible for rollback
Keyboard Shortcuts
For faster review:
- Tab - Move to next pending change
- Enter - Accept current change
- Backspace - Reject current change
These shortcuts help you review multiple changes quickly while keeping your hands on the keyboard.
